A tragic accident claimed the life of a woman after a couple’s motorcycle lost its brakes and fell into a canal around 8:50 PM on Thursday, June 5, 2025, along Transcentral Highway in Barangay Cansomoroy, Balamban.

Felchris Lopez, 33, a resident of Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City, was driving a Honda Click motorcycle and sustained injuries.

His girlfriend and passenger, Michelle Cabuguas Azucenas, 29, from Barangay Pasol, Alcoy, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Balamban District Hospital.

According to reports, the couple was traveling with friends to San Remigio for a planned outing in observance of the Friday holiday.

The crash occurred while descending a portion of the highway, when the motorcycle reportedly encountered a brake failure. Lopez lost control of the vehicle, causing them to fall into a canal.
